Garnering some attention in the blogosphere recently is Vellum a server based blogging system similar to MoveableType. Python based, Vellum appears to have a small core with a plugin based architecture, python scripted templates and some interesting ideas about page generation.

It may well appeal to the true geek, I have enough trouble finding time to post content let alone tweaking my blog setup repeatedly (sorry Safari users :-)
